MLC has confirmed that it will extend its Best Doctors medical advice service to its Protectionfirst clients.
In a message to advisers released last week Aubrey Roga, MLC’s Head of Insurance Sales, announced that formerly Aviva, now MLC clients with a Protectionfirst policy with Critical Illness cover that commenced after February 2002 would be eligible to take advantage of MLC’s Best Doctors service.
Mr Roga said that Protectionfirst is a crucial part of the MLC business and that the company remains committed to actively managing the Protectionfirst book of business. He also confirmed that MLC would continue to invest in Riskfirst, the technology platform which supports Protectionfirst.
Mr Roga also indicated that pricing changes would be implemented on a number of existing Protectionfirst policy series. According to Mr Roga the premium rate changes, which will be confirmed in the coming weeks, will assist MLC to manage their insurance products as “one book of business”.
Protectionfirst is the former Aviva insurance offer, which was rebadged as part of MLC’s takeover of the company earlier this year.
Best Doctors, an initiative launched by MLC in 2009, provides eligible policy holders and their immediate family with access to world class medical advice whenever it is needed. The service provides a dedicated point of contact for the client when needed most. It collects all existing medical information from which a detailed clinical summary is created and given to an appropriate, peer nominated, Best Doctors specialist for review and recommendations.
