The risk store has launched its 2011 Life Risk Champion of the Year Award with a call for nominations of those who have actively championed the life insurance cause over the last twelve months.

Now in its fourth year, the award considers relevant nominations based on the criteria as well as the total number of nominations received for each person.

risk store founder Sue Laing commented, “There are loads of financial services industry awards for products and service and for business and personal achievement in the adviser space, but none for other non-advisory individuals whose passion and commitment make them shine in their field – particularly in the life risk area where ‘mainstream’ media still struggle to appreciate the value of our contribution to Australians”.

“That’s why, when [inaugural winner] David Mico sadly passed away prematurely after a career of extraordinary but quiet achievement, the idea came to us for the Award,” said Ms Laing.

Past winners are:

  • 2008: David Mico – IFSA
  • 2009: Peter Sobels – riskinfo
  • 2010: Fiona Navarro  – MLC Risk Specialist Network

The announcement of the winner will be made during the risk store’s 2011 Life Risk Forum being held from August 16 – 18 on Hamilton Island.
