Latest Poll – Landslide Result for Coalition

Advisers have delivered an overwhelmingly one-sided verdict on which Party they want in the driver’s seat after the September 14 Federal Election.

A huge 89% of  those who have voted so far in our latest poll have staked their preference that a Coalition Government would deliver a better financial services sector for advisers and their clients.

Given the general unpopularity of the present Labor Government throughout much of the financial services sector, it was expected that advisers in this poll would favour the election of a Coalition Government.  However, the margin is striking.  As we have indicated, 89% so far have voted for the Coalition, 6% have said it will make no difference, while only 5% believe a returned Labor Government will deliver the best outcome for advisers and clients.

This outcome does not accurately reflect broader community opinion, but it does re-affirm the weight of negative sentiment held by advisers towards the current Federal Government.

Taking into account the volume and nature of comments we have received in many polls during the last two to three years, the prevailing mood of advisers is encapsulated, at least in part, in this extract from one adviser comment:

The government seems to be serving only one part of the sector and that is the Unions who run the Industry Super Funds. Redtape of over regulation is destroying independent dealer groups…

We encourage you to consider your own perspectives.  Are you part of the (currently) 89%?  Or do you support another point of view?  Either way, let us know what you think, as our poll remains open for another week…

  1. Change of stance is needed as much as change of behaviour in the financial sector. The present stance is to protect the Union funds to the hilt. That is unsustainable in a democracy!

  2. This poll result doesn’t surprise me in the least. Whether I was an adviser or not, I still would want to get rid of this shambles in Canberra. Let’s hope this happens in September if not before. I hope all the turncoat “independents” who have kept them in power get their just deserts also.
