Feedback Sought on New Policy Platform

The FAAA is seeking feedback from its members to renew the focus of its policy platform, which will guide its policy and advocacy priorities through to 2030.

The association says its members will be sent a short survey to provide their views on various key policy areas.

FAAA Chair David Sharpe says the policy platform has been one of the top priorities this year, following the completion of the merger of the former FPA and the AFA, noting that members consistently tell the association its efforts in policy and advocacy are their top priority.

David Sharpe …it’s critically important that our members help shape the policy and advocacy priorities of the FAAA

“We have listened to their call and seek their input into this important project.”

He adds that it’s “…critically important that our members help shape the policy and advocacy priorities of the FAAA, and I encourage them to take the time to let us know their views.”

The survey will ask members to provide their views on key policy areas including:

  • Ease of providing advice
  • Ease of servicing clients
  • Improved technology and data
  • Cost of providing advice
  • Sustainability of financial advice
  • Professional standards and education
  • Licensing and registration
  • Those who can provide financial advice, and to whom

The survey will remain open until 19 October. The FAAA says it marks the start of the process on developing the new policy platform and notes the process will extend over a number of months and include further consultation with both members directly and through FAAA committees.

Sharpe says the decisions “…that we make now, will help shape the future of our profession. Having created a unified voice, we add clarity and power to the positions we take.”

He urged all members to complete the survey and be involved in the project “…to ensure that all voices are heard.”
