ANZ Lends Support to Disaster Victims

ANZ, in conjunction with Sydney’s Star City Casino, has rallied support from the entertainment community to put on a benefit concert for victims of the recent natural disasters.

The Rock and Rebuild charity concert will be held on Sunday, 1 May at the Lyric Theatre Star City, headlined by international political activist and pop musician, Sir Bob Geldof.

The group says that 100% of the income from ticket sales will be donated to both the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Fund and The Australian Red Cross to help support communities affected by disasters in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Sir Bob was recently in Australia to help with the launch of the OnePath brand to financial advisers.

“To see the extent to which people’s lives have been devastated is heart-wrenching,” he said. “I have experienced the generosity and compassion of the people of Australia, New Zealand and Japan first hand, so it’s quite humbling to be invited to lead the Rock and Rebuild effort, and give some support to those nations.”

“Long after the cameras shift their focus the people will still be rebuilding their lives. It’s important that we keep them in our minds and continue to lend a hand,” he added.

Sir Bob will be joined on stage by local artists Jon Stevens and Danielle Spencer.

ANZ and its wealth brand OnePath have encouraged advisers to get behind the cause, saying the event reflects ANZ’s commitment to the communities it operates in.

Tickets are available from Ticketmaster.
